Helping people grow and bringing ideas to life lights me up.
I help people and teams through:
Challenging people to crystallize their thinking
Connecting dots to solve problems — through individual and group discussion, and often in unusual ways across disciplines and dimensions
Listening for patterns and processes, then using them to unlock and co-create new ideas
Relentless curiosity, learning, and believing in the art of the possible.
My approach
I help individuals and teams get clear about their goals, challenges, and ways forward — and then enable them to cultivate their own growth.
Through 3 decades of corporate experience, I’ve learned to unlock possibilities through curiosity and questions. And a shared whiteboard so we create together. In doing so, I listen for patterns and opportunities to connect ideas and connect people.
I’m known for relentlessly asking “What does success look like?” and drilling down to what’s important and actionable.
I’m also keen on keeping sight of “Who is the customer and what does s/he need?”
Teams are particularly rewarding for me – by facilitating conversation and ideas, solutions become a virtuous snowball that unlocks and builds, drawing on the skills and experiences of everyone. I’ve helped teams improve how they listen and communicate and engage with “good” conflict and accountability — leading to stronger effectiveness, innovation, and ability to embrace change.
I may use Hogan Personality Assessments to help people and teams learn more about how they’re showing up to others. Knowing and managing yourself is the starting place for interacting with, managing, and leading others.
Even when communications are the starting point, there are often many additional positive results: self reflection, personal purpose and branding, confidence, and getting comfortable with conflict and change.
My coaching & consulting is rooted in these beliefs:
We are called to use whatever talents we have for the good of others.
Good ideas come from lots of people and places, both expected and surprising.
Growth is always possible; we are more effective and have more fun when we seek it.
People want to be valued members of teams that push boundaries and succeed.
With training, encouragement, commitment, and accountability, people will rise to your high hopes and expectations of them.
Intuition or process? Why not both?
I’m a big fan of both. Intuition touches the human side of work, and often hangs out with storytelling, which is always more impactful and effective than dry data. And messy can unlock amazing creativity.
But process! Process can help us be efficient and save time. It can help ensure we hit the steps we need to shine. And like practicing an athletic move over and over, it create muscles memory to free up our brains to do more interesting and important things.
