My work and background

My work has helped people get clear about their goals, challenges, and ways forward — and then enable them to take action, grow, and succeed.

From small village government and non-profits to global companies, I have helped organizations successfully define and clarify goals, business strategy, communications, and new initiatives that improve processes, create and communicate value, and grow excitement among those they serve.

My experience includes manufacturing line support, technology, project management, sales (cold calling in the Bronx, anyone?) forecasting & business planning, product management, consulting, customer data and CRM, investor relations, strategic marketing, local government administration & finance, and now training, coaching, and facilitation.

As a board member on several boards — non-profit boards, a national industry group, a fund board, and as an elected trustee for my village — I’ve help organizations grow by guiding high-level direction and exercising effective oversight.

I’ve benefitted from many opportunities in governance, including CEO selection, crafting strategic direction and acquisitions. Challenging yet respectful questions and insightful dialogue have been key to facilitating success while remaining “noses in, hands out”.

I enjoy public speaking and sharing actionable ideas. As a media spokesperson in various roles I’ve been quoted in several national publications you’d recognize like the Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, and Morningstar. And a few you’d have to hunt for like the local League of Women Voters’ candidates forum. I’ve trained and coached professionals preparing for conferences and events as well as Boy Scouts, high school students, and college interns.

The thread running through my work and results is

problem-solving and bringing new ideas to life.

I’m pretty comfortable with change, and can help you get there too…

During my career in B-to-B marketing and product management, I’ve led or launched several new initiatives:

As a consultant and then employee for a global pharmaceutical firm, I led deploying powerful new prescription data by collaborating across marketing, sales, and IT to understand business goals and challenges. The new data tools and programs transformed sales and marketing targeting, messaging, incentives, and increased ROI.

The development and launch I led of Nuveen’s first firm-wide CRM system provided comprehensive client insight, portfolio information and operational data to over 200 salespeople, resulting in greater efficiency, higher revenue, and improved client service.

I also substantially expanded the integrated marketing program for Nuveen’s $60B CEF (closed-end fund) business. Partnerships across the firm and with fund board members, industry analysts, agencies, and regulators were key to driving category leadership. The program earned numerous industry awards and enabled raising >$15B in IPOs and >$1B in secondary offerings. I also served as the main CEF spokesperson at Nuveen and as president of the national Closed-End Fund Association.

In my last Nuveen role, I led go-to-market planning & development for Nuveen’s new Solutions business, highlighting and enabling an organizational shift to holistic portfolio construction vs. single product sales and helping raise $1B in new business.

Are you still here and curious about Anne?

Things I really enjoy:

  • People — nearly all of them, and especially my kids

  • Outdoor adventures — especially backpacking in our national parks. You can experience amazing beauty if you’re willing to sleep in a tent and forego plumbing for a few days.

  • Learning — yep, I read the encyclopedias as a kid, and currently read almost all displays at museums. I press buttons and look around a lot too.

  • Food and wine — fortunately I have a decent garden and a son who is a chef!

  • Music — I’ve been singing forever and playing piano since I was 7.  I also own a clarinet; learning banjo remains on my bucket list.
